Can You Become a YouKu Partner?
When you browse the its homepage, it looks like a news website slash entertainments like dramas and movies. YouKu (in chinese its 优酷), commonly thought as the Chinese imitation of the popular YouTube, was actually supposed to be a Hulu-like video content provider, says its founder Victor Koo. According to Koo, “Youku serves as a nationwide on-demand video content syndication platform with over 1,500 traditional media partners”. But I’m wondering if there are Youku partnerships as in – Youtube partner programs – where anyone can apply for. Ya know, like eventually making a living out of Youtube videos in the bedroom like Ryan Higa, Jenna Marbles, Bethany Mota and all those Youtube personalities.
The reason I ask is because although you see HZGG bad lip readings, the Xidan girl and a couple of JJ Lin song covers floating around Youku, it doesn’t seem like the Chinese users take advantage of the Youku platform to upload well-crafted, well-thought out videos as Youtubers. That would explain not seeing as many user-uploaded skits and other types of videos. So does anyone know if Youku does this whole “partnership” thing or no? Because it seems like a great idea to encourage more video-content participation and get people jobs.
